At the southernmost tip of the Hainan Island off the coast of mainland China lies Yalong Bay, an unspoiled, tropical haven hailed by many as "The Hawaii of China". Overlooking 750m of powdery white beach front is where the new Hilton Sanya Resort & Spa, a casual low-rise resort village set in lush tropical gardens, with a meandering lagoon running the length of the site, will open 25 December 2005. The resort features 501 guestrooms, suites and villas, from 48.5sqm, in addition to private balconies. Almost three quarters of the rooms overlook a wide, crescent-shaped sandy beach and the South China Sea. The remainder has vistas over the surrounding National Park. There is a Spa Retreat featuring a spa, relaxation area and fitness zone, two tennis courts and Kidz Paradise and a laguna swimming pool. The recreational center provides a whole host of activities that caters to everyone. The well appointed meeting and banquet facilities offer more than 3000sqm of space over two storeys, including an extensive area suitable for exhibitions, product launches and suchlike. Separate check-in area provides greater convenience for organizers or event planners. An outdoor and a beachfront function lawns are additional venues for creative event planning.
